r is a city in the northwest of britain. It was made a city in 1853 & now has a significant population of over 450,000. Manchester is the third largest conurbation in the united kingdom & it’s also the third most popular city that’s visited by foreign tourists.
Manchester rose to prominence in the nineteeth century, when it was at the heart of the industrial revolution. The city was ideal for the textile business because it had a humid atmosphere, in addition to a laudable supply of soft water. The city’s rivers also generated water power that ran the machinery in the mills. the ready supply of coal and the transportation network of railways and roads also helped it become an industrial centre. because of this, countless mills began springing up throughout the city.
Manchester’s mills are still there today, although plenty of them have been changed into flats and offices. thanks to a 1996 ira bomb that destroyed a chunk of the city centre, Manchester also boasts many modern structures, too.
There are lots of activities to do in Manchester, including plenty of museums & art galleries. a handful of of the best are URBIS, the manchester museum & the Whitworth Art Gallery.
The Whitworth art gallery boasts a friendly permanent collection of work, which include art by artists such as Picasso, Paul Klee & David Hockney. as well as this, the art gallery also boasts many touring exhibitions.
Manchester is a wonderful place for shopping fans with a vast variety of shops that cater to any taste. you will find designer stores like office & joseph on the city’s vip King Street, as well as bigger department stores including harvey nicks.
Bargain shoppers will be pleased to know that there’s plenty of high street shops on Market street. some of the most popular shops are makeover, zavvi & Game.
Manchester is well-known for its shops and it attracts many revellers to its numerous nightclubs, pubs and cocktail bars.
You could have a classy night in one of Manchester’s exclusive cocktail bars or even a cosy pint of cider in one of the city’s rustic pubs. Later, you will find a vast variety of nightclubs to visit, so you can stay out until the early hours.
The city is also a wonderful location for fans of live music, because it has got numerous venues. These include the Night and Day and the ruby lounge, which regularly by local & touring bands.
