Need thoughts on moving to New York City?

Hello,
I’m 28 years old and I have recently learned of a job being offered in the Queens area that would pay $50,000 starting out. I currently make $30,000 in Ohio, but even factoring in the cost of living, I would be getting a pay increase…not to mention my wife would work as well. I have heard that Brooklyn and Queens are fairly nice and affordable. Can anyone offer me perspectives on moving to NYC? I don’t know how well I would handle the big city since I am not good around crowds of people, but the idea of being surrounded by all that history, museums, and famous food just sounds intriguing. I am also worried about how the NYC schools work….my wife has an education degree in middle childhood education, and she hasn’t been able to find a teaching job in Ohio….so I’m wondering if her prospects would be any better in NYC, and if so, what the schools are like in a big city like NYC. Thanks.
