Why is the general public stupid?

I work at a famous museum as a tour guide, and every day I get the same stupid questions: “Is this exhibit new?” “Do we have to wait in line, or can we come back later?” “Where’s the entrance?” It’s so ridiculous! The exhibit’s been there since 1933, obviously if you have to wait in line you can’t come back later, and if the sign says ENTRANCE- then gee, that must be where it is! Why are so many people so stupid? I mean- like these people are even in business suits sometimes. How can you manage a business but when you go to a museum, you act like a retard? Finally a few days a go, some people WHO WERE MEMBERS asked me “What’s the wait time for this tour?” I said “Ten minutes.” They said “Oh okay, so can we come back in 10 minutes?” And I replied rudely “What are you stupid? You ever been to an amusement park? You fucking wait in line!” They reported me to my supervisor and I got a write up. And for what? For speaking the truth? Can someone please tell me why the masses are stupid?
