Best day of the week to visit the Field Museum in Chicago?

I’m planning on a trip to Chicago in middle of July, to spend about 3 days going to Field Museum and maybe other museums nearby.
What day of the week is best to avoid the crowd? Both at the Field Museum and Museum of Science?

Are there any decent hotels near walking distance to the museums?
What area of the city is it located? Is it lakeside or north suburb?
Money is not a problem, although I don’t need to stay in a 4 star hotel or anything.
I know I asked this question before but I’d like more input.
